Street Art...Lower Manhattan

On a recent trek to lower Manhattan...I bumped into this lovely painting that was done on a make shift wall on Rector Street. I can't see the empty lot behind it but I know that this is much more pleasing to the eye than a plain white wall. Love it!!!

Breaking my Routine

As any New Yorker I am often focusing on where I am going. So, today, I chose to look up and down.

I discovered that I long for a rooftop garden and that simple things make me smile.

Renegade Craft Fair

I attended the Renegade Craft Fair over the weekend in Brooklyn, NY and I had a great time. Inspiration all around - the artists were top notch. I fell in love with these lovely silk-screened greeting cards by Barbara Raidl of Kinaloon.

I also enjoyed playing in Erin Albin's booth, Appetite. She creates beautiful textiles and handbags with upcycled leather. I will definitely visit her online store in the future.

I love love love handmade items, supporting artists and upcycled materials!

Inspiration in Red & White

Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red & White Quilts was at the Park Avenue Armory in NYC March 25-30.

For those of you who made the trek to see the exhibit - I know that you were amazed not just by the quilts but by the installation itself. Absolutely beautiful!

Spring!

I've been lazy lately - stuck in the hum drum of my 9-6 "so I can eat" job. I lost myself to the travel, the long hours, the stress - it seemed to suck me dry. I miss me - my creative life; taking pictures, making jewelry, smiling - mostly I miss seeing the world through creative eyes.

I became one of the 'dead people' as I call them. You know what I mean - one of those people who simply plod through life not embracing the simple every day joy that happens.

We visited a quilt show at The Park Avenue Armory on Saturday. Michael took this picture. I'm not sure what I was more impressed with the creativity of hundreds of women whom during the past 3 centuries created these lovely usable pieces of art, the woman who has collected all of them and more or the artistry of the display. I was overwhelmed with awe.

Ocean, sand between our toes, sun...we had a great time in SC.

Hunting Morel's in Wisconsin...this is my Dad' finger - tiny tiny - happily we found some larger mushrooms just a few feet away. Yummy!

NOLA - Did you notice?

The French Quarter is amazing.

The architecture, the colors of the doors, the balconies, the people - all the things that everyone notices. But if you've ever been there, did you notice the little things? Like the doorbells?

I first walked right by than turned around like I saw someone that I recognized. I clicked the pic and walked away thinking...

Do they work?

How many layers of paint are really there?

If they do work do they all sound the same?

Jewelry

Little Helicopter

The simply beauty of nature will forever touch me. This dragonfly paused at Turtle Pond in Central Park a couple of weeks ago. Blue is so rare in nature that I was captivated.

Bass Art

A few weeks ago I attended the Barrow/Commerce Neighborhood Fair in NYC. This gentleman was playing in a band. I love this angle. The curve of the bass, the wrinkles around his eyes - - I can only imagine the smile that is probably on his face.

NYC Green Market

The Green Market at Union Square in New York City is beautiful. The simple colors that nature produces are amazing!

Take your time when you are there to see the vibrant colors. Go early to listen to the chatter of the chefs bartering for the best prices. Savor the art the nature has produced – taste it for the first time.

Tears of Nature

This is my favorite face in New York City...

The weather has created a tearline down her face. When was the last time that you noticed the beautiful sculpture that exists on the brownstones in NYC? The art that exists in our every day life should be noticed. Take the time to breathe in the simple art that surrounds you.
